Consultation Meetings Announced for Initial Plan

The Christchurch Coastal Pathway project has moved on to a very exciting investigative stage! Wraight + Associates have been engaged by the Christchurch City Council to develop an initial plan for the pathway which can be used for funding purposes. See below for details of community consultation meetings coming up in September & October 2012 . Diary meetings for yourself now – your contributions at these meetings will be vital.

The Christchurch Coastal Pathway Group looks forward to meeting you and hearing about your vision for the pathway.

THE FIRST PUBLIC “ENVISIONING” MEETINGS WILL BE HELD AT
Mt. Pleasant Community Centre, 3 McCormacks Bay Rd, Tues 18th Sept 4pm—6pm
Sumner New School Hall, Dryden Street, Tues 18th Sept, 7.15pm – 9.15pm
Redcliffs Bowling Club, 9 James Street, Wed 19th Sept, 7.15pm – 9.15pm

At these meetings, you will be able to:
>Discuss the issues and opportunities.
>Share knowledge about our community and the area involved
>Discuss ideas for the development of a vision for the project.
>Discuss the significance of the area’s social, historic, cultural & environmental values.

REVIEW MEETINGS

Tues 9th Oct, Mt Pleasant Yacht Club, Main Road just left over the Ferrymead bridge, 4pm – 6pm
Tue 9th Oct, Redcliffs Bowling Club, 9 James St, 7.15pm – 9.15pm
Wed 10th Oct, Sumner Old School Hall, 20 Wiggins St, 7.15pm – 9.15pm
At these meetings you will be able to: 
> Review results of previous consultation;
> Discuss design options that have been prepared as a result of your ideas; and
> Discuss alternatives and what they might mean in terms of cost or environmental issues.

PRESENT THE PREFERRED MASTER PLAN – MEETINGS 
Tues 23rd Oct, Mt Pleasant Yacht Club, Main Road just left over the Ferrymead bridge, 4pm– 6pm
Tues 23rd Oct, Sumner New School hall, Dryden St, 7.15pm – 9.15pm
Wed 24th Oct, Redcliffs Bowling Club, 9 James St, 7.15pm – 9.15pm

At these meetings, Wraight + Associates will present the preferred master plan and you will have the opportunity to:
> Canvass any major issues or concerns; and
> Discuss priorities.

Wraight + Associates, landscape architects, will facilitate all nine meetings. They will coordinate this stage of the design process with input from the Council, the community and a number of technical experts.

Note that because there is a fairly short time frame for this study to be finished, there won’t be much time for written submissions. So please take time to come to one or all of these meetings. You will be heard.
